Tallinn fest to show ‘When Pomegranates Howl’

The Tallinn Black Nights filmfest in Estonia is to screen ‘When Pomegranates Howl’.

The Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival (POFF) in Estonia has been scheduled to screen ‘When Pomegranates Howl’, a coproduction from Iran, Afghanistan, the Netherlands, and Australia.

Directed by Iranian filmmaker Granaz Mousavi, the drama film will be shown at the Current Waves section of the 25th edition of the Estonian event.

‘When Pomegranates Howl’ tells the story of a little boy named Hewad, who lives on the streets of Kabul following the loss of his father and brother.

The 9-year-old boy starts working as a cart pusher to support his family. He enjoys doing his job everyday travelling through the capital city of Afghanistan.

He actually has a dream to become a star of cinema. His dream revives as he meets an Australian photographer.

Arafat Faiz, Elham Ayazi, Saeedeh Sadat, Fereshteh Alami, Madineh Niaz and Andrew Quilty are some of the cast members of the flick.

Iranian maestro, Hossein Alizadeh, has composed the music score for the movie.

The Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival is one of the biggest film festivals in Northern Europe hosting filmmakers and also journalists from around the world. The festival screens some 250 features and more than 300 short films and animations each year.

The 25th edition of the POFF is slated for November 12-28, 2021.
